I very much doubt Bitcoin will be replaced at this point, it’s simply too entrenched and there’s nothing that has a supporting infrastructure anywhere close to Bitcoin’s. It’s not impossible of course, but it would now be very hard to do and we’d see it coming up the ranks from a mile off — the vast amount of resource re-allocation and development that would now be required would be impossible to do centrally or quietly.

Many of my early articles from a few years ago make the same point actually, but it gets less likely by the day as the network grows in size and security. The value locked within is now enormous.

And yes the backlog problem in late 2017 was an issue (I remember it well!), but this is being dealt with all the time and will, eventually, become less of an issue, if one at all.

Whatever happens, crypto isn’t going away now, so we’re in for a hell of a few years ahead!
