Hi Rogue! Thanks for reading and responding, much appreciated!
Have to disagree with the ‘bitcoin is not a currency’ point of view since I personally pay for goods and services (and AM paid) on a daily basis using Bitcoin, as are many others. However, it’s true to say that this only applies to a few million people rather than the billions than maybe there should have been by now. That said, it IS growing daily and it’s a totally new concept that usually takes quite some time for people to properly understand, so let’s see how it plays out. And yes, there is definitely commodity argument as well, even one for store of value.
As for Libra, I’m on record so saying this will probably never get off the ground since it’s just another centralized payment mechanism like all the others, but I do think it’ll add value if it ever does get through the enormous legislative obstacles it faces. Not hopeful though, and that’s aside from the trust issues.
Finally, I accept you may have been involved longer than me, I’ve only been involved in the cryptocurrency economy since 2014 and only full time since 2016 so I can hardly call myself an OG! And, having gone through the exact same ‘the internet will never work because it’s rubbish’ thing first hand, I have to say this feels incredibly similar!
One thing is for sure — we’re in for a very interesting few years ahead aren’t we?!
All the best and thanks again for your input!
