Think we’re online at the same time! I can’t comment on Hawaii, Queensland, Texas or Ontario as I’ve only visited one of these and don’t know the history well enough. I just assumed they were states, but I’m happy to be corrected if that’s not the case.

However, I HAVE visited Wales quite often. I even lived there for a while and was quite aware of which country I was living in. I’m also British and based just up the road from the very lands we are discussing. I can assure you it’s definitely a country and has been a very, VERY long time. Of course, the very fact that the first question on the official website asks the point we are discussing shows how big a misconception it is! As I said before, it’s not uncommon for people to think that, but it’s not correct.

So, yes, I do think Wales is something different (ie a country) and I have to disagree with you and say that it is not, in fact, of ‘little real world validity’. It just is! (especially to the Welsh!)
